Jordan Izzo, Psy.D.
Dr. Izzo is now taking new clients! If you are interested in working with Dr. Izzo, you can contact him with the information provided below.
Background: Dr. Izzo received his doctorate from the APA accredited institution, Azusa Pacific University, in Azusa, California. He completed his APA accredited pre-doctoral internship at the University of Kentucky Counseling Center in Lexington, Kentucky. Currently, he is both a staff clinician and Co-Director of Training at Behavior Therapy Center of Greater Washington (BTC). Dr. Izzo loves working with everyone across different ages and has helped many folks with different problems. He typically sees clients with obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) including tourettic OCD, body dysmorphic disorder (BDD), tics/Tourette’s syndrome, hair pulling disorder, skin picking disorder, phobias, and more.
Approach to Therapy: Instead of seeing clients as a list of symptoms or concerns, Dr. Izzo takes the approach and time to see each of his clients as a whole person who has an invaluable story to tell. He makes an effort to ensure that each of his clients are listened to and respected, regardless of their background or experiences. Dr. Izzo tries to make the therapy room a safe, warm, and welcomed place where people will gradually feel comfortable telling him their story. He approaches therapy as the client being in the driver seat and he being in the passenger seat, leading discussions on where the client can go across their course of life or the disorder they are experiencing.
Personal Information: Dr. Izzo enjoys spending time with his fiancé and his Australian shepherd, Evie. He likes to keep active, if it is running in downtown Washington D.C. or kayaking in a nearby lake. Dr. Izzo also enjoys relaxing nights in where he typically can be found listening to music or watching some of his anime favorites.
